Role Summary

The Director, Data Science will be a key leader in the organization, reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). The Director will oversee all Data Science and Bioinformatics programs and be part of a diverse team focused on advancing iPSC-derived T-cell therapeutics from discovery-stage through scale-up and clinical manufacturing. They will provide deep technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in developing genomic analysis workflows and databases. They will be responsible for task definition, planning, execution and reporting of internal and partner-facing projects. They will be a leader in bringing new and innovative products, technologies and processes to market to enable life-saving advances in cell therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • PK/PD modeling with an emphasis on cell therapy
  • Development and application of mechanistic models of cellular dynamics
  • Bioinformatics; processing and analytics high dimensional data sets including WGS, mRNA sequencing, single cell data sets, CITE-Seq, Multiplexed Spatial proteomics, Cellular interaction networks
  • Development of methods for storage and analysis of multidimensional data sets
  • Application of novel data analysis methodologies to complex datasets including machine learning or other adaptive non-biased approaches to data set analysis
  • Work closely with Process Development to analyze time course datasets, such as gene expression during differentiation, in-process measurements of cell culture status (cell count, viability, glucose/lactate etc.), and endpoint measurements of potency to gain insight into processing parameters and cell characteristics driving successful T cell production from iPSCs
  • Work closely with the CSO and academic and industry partners as well as represent Notch at key scientific and industry conferences
  • Responsible for budget and personnel management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Data Science or related fields.
  • 10+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience leading teams from discovery through IND.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross functional project teams.
  • Strong patent and/or publication record.
  • Ability to travel to Notch Canadian offices.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $260,000
