The Senior Administrator, IT Systems provides technical administrative and design services for all Notch IT Systems, including our cloud-based environments, laboratory systems, end users and devices across all Notch sites (Canada and USA). As a senior position, the role requires a high level of technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a methodical approach to solution design and technical documentation.
The Senior Administrator, IT Systems works with all departments across all sites and is critical to support Notch’s objectives and standards for the entire company. This role requires a strong desire and drive to support all scientific and office operations IT needs to support Notch’s success.
Key responsibilities:
System Administration
- Design, procure, deploy and maintain all IT cloud and on-premises systems
- Administer and support data platforms (i.e. MS 365, Intune, and AWS)
- Administer, support and maintain the network infrastructure across all Notch sites
- Design, administer and maintain all backup solutions
- Develop and maintain all IT documentation
Cybersecurity
- Monitor, review, and respond to security incidents
- Provide technical support on incident mitigation and document investigation
- Deploy, monitor and maintain IT security systems (cloud and on premises), endpoint protection, patch management and vulnerability systems
- Monitor security threats and provide recommendations to the reporting manager
Solution design
- Work with stakeholders in gathering functional and IT requirements
- Lead assigned projects, including coordinating with vendors on proposals and quotes
- Provide recommendations to and escalate to the reporting manager.
Account Management
- Provide identity and access management for all user accounts.
- Provision and deprovision accounts according to IT policies
- Create and maintain documentation and tracking of access management changes
End user support
- Respond to service requests from all Notch sites via in person, email, chat, telephone or text
- Ensure that requests are completed in a timely manner, including follow-up to appropriate individuals
- Manage service tickets and up-to-date documentation relating to service requests
- Deliver support in a calm, professional and service-oriented manner
- Escalate to the reporting manager as required
Computer equipment support
- Administer and support asset management through full life cycle
- Provision, update and deprovision end-user systems
- Administer, deploy and maintain IT components of laboratory systems
- Maintain inventory and up-to-date equipment documentation
- Assist with quotes and orders as directed
IT Project support
- Complete assigned IT projects, IT Strategy, policies and procedures
- Ensure assigned IT projects are delivered to the stakeholder’s satisfaction
- Assist auditing and optimizing license usage

Role Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience and a Bachelors’ degree in information technology, computer science or computer engineering OR 3 years related experience and a Masters’ degree, OR a combination of equivalent experience ad recognized IT certifications.
Required related experience in:
- Administering Microsoft365 environment (MS365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Security & Compliance, Endpoint Manager, MFA, AzureAD, Enterprise Applications and SSO)
- Providing end user support for Windows and Mac systems
- Managing Windows servers in an enterprise network environment
- Managing other cloud computing environments like security and data protection, endpoint management solutions
Preferred related work experience:
- Experience working in life sciences, managing scientific data and IT support for laboratory systems
- Experience managing next generation endpoint protection and patch management systems
- Experience managing cloud IaaS environments, AWS or MS Azure
- Experience in a technical lead position on IT projects
Role Requirements:
- Certifications in Microsoft 365 and AWS, windows server, network and security are preferred
- Proactively seek input and drive collaborative communication across all Notch sites
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks according to priority and work with a sense of urgency and transparency to consistently meet defined timelines
- Creatively source alternate solutions to high priority problems, within scope of role accountability
- Strong communication skills, especially when updating and reporting the progress of IT projects, tasks and issues to acting manager, leaders and colleagues
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and consistently demonstrate a professional, service-oriented attitude
Salary Range: $106,000 - $138,000
