Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Scientist to join our growing team as an early and foundational hire. In this role you will help establish our laboratory infrastructure, support large-scale phenotypic screens, and develop the cell-based assay capabilities that will underpin our small molecule programs. As the company matures, this person will take increasing ownership of SAR-supporting assays and be a key partner in advancing compounds through early drug discovery. The role is full-time and on-site in Montreal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and execution of large-scale pooled phenotypic screens in primary human immune cells, including cell culture, assay setup, and data collection.

  • Collaborate with the broader biology and computational teams to connect screen outputs to target validation

  • Develop, optimize, and implement biophysical and cell-based assays to support compound progression from hit validation through drug candidate nomination.

  • Interpret experimental results to advance understanding of target biology and pharmacology

  • Develop and rigorously maintain SOPs, experimental records, and reproducible protocols to support a high-quality research environment

  • Help establish and organize the lab from the ground up, including equipment procurement, vendor relationships, reagent management, and safety compliance

Ideal Candidate

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with 3-5 years of drug discovery experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment; or M.Sc. with 5-10 years of similar experience

  • Strong hands-on experience developing a range of biochemical and cellular assays used to support small molecule profiling for both first-in-class and best-in-class targets

  • Extensive experience in molecular and cell biology techniques including ELISA, Western blotting, MSD, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, biochemical/cell-based assays to measure metabolites and enzymatic activity (colorimetric, fluorometric and luminescence-based) and biophysical assays to measure protein binding (ex: HTRF)

  • Comfortable with primary cell culture and immune cell assay systems; flow cytometry experience is a plus

  • Prior experience setting up or managing an industry lab in an asset

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in an early-stage environment
