Role:

We are seeking a creative and collaborative scientist and technologist to lead the development and optimization of bioinformatics systems to support the discovery and design of novel biologics. Experience in establishing next-generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatics tools related to biotherapeutics is desired. Experience with protein design using computational tools is also desired. This role provides the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary teams to solve challenging problems in the discovery and design of new biologics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop bioinformatics tools for analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data sets that integrate with Benchling to facilitate discovery and design of protein therapeutics with desired binding characteristics and biological activity.
  • Leverage bioinformatics to expand the throughput of antibody screening workflows, including curation, analysis and interpretation of large data sets, and process automation.
  • Work with a high-functioning team focused on identification, characterization, and optimization of antibodies and related biologics in support of Tentarix’s pipeline of therapeutic programs.
  • Lead the design and optimization of our data model in Benchling to continuously improve data entry, organization, and visibility.
  • Present strategies, approaches, results, and conclusions effectively within the Antibody Engineering Team and other functional teams to enhance efficiencies and feedback across our research group.
  • Establish and strengthen the interface between teams, including streamlining communication, operations, and data systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Expertise in setting up a GIT repository and working with a collaborative programming environment.
  • Expertise in Python, C++, or other programming language.
  • Goal oriented, organized, capable of prioritizing across multiple projects, and able to execute to timelines that meet company goals.
  • A track record of innovation, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and ability to contribute constructively to discussions.
  • Thrive in a cross functional team environment and committed to positively contributing to Tentarix supportive small company culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident, independent and decisive; proactive and results-oriented with high performance standards.
  • BS/MS degree in biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, engineering, or related field and 5+ years’ experience in bioinformatics Or PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, engineering, or related field and 2+ years of academic / industry experience in bioinformatics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in development of bioinformatics tools for analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
  • Experience with SQL and Benchling, or other laboratory information management systems is desired.
  • In-depth understanding of antibody sequence, structure, and binding kinetics is beneficial.
  • Expertise with protein design using computational tools is beneficial.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI-based approaches for biotherapeutic design and optimization is beneficial.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Tentarix, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $110,000 – 145,000 + bonus target + benefits + equity.
