Role:

The VP of Biology will work closely with our Executive team and provide leadership for Tentarix’s Discovery Biology Department. The VP of Biology will provide overall management of the Discovery Biology research team, ensuring the successful translation of programs into drug candidates. The VP of biology will oversee, contribute, and interact regularly for partnered programs. They will be involved in the continuous development and delivery of our internal pipeline programs. We expect participation in project ideation, background research, and working with external KOL’s and our SAB to obtain feedback. The VP of Biology will be responsible for personnel development, organizational change and hiring.

Key Responsibilities:

· Drive decision making, planning and timelines, execution, troubleshooting and problem solving using your background in the in vitro and in vivo testing and development of biologics to ensure timelines and design goals are meet and projects are successful

· Contribute to the development of Tentarix’s Discovery pipeline

o Relevant disease areas include immunology, oncology, and overlapping areas such as fibrosis and metabolism

o Work with external Key Opinion Leaders and Tentarix’s Scientific Advisory Board to obtain programmatic feedback

· Partner closely with other internal functions such as biotherapeutics, program management, and leadership for both existing, partnered programs and future, internal programs

· Develop high-performing teams by facilitating intergroup communication, accountability, and providing real-time feedback

· Mentor and provide growth opportunities to scientific team leads and their teams

· Ensure the team is supported and equipped appropriately, including training, laboratory equipment, vendors, outsourced partners etc.

· Support regulatory filings, intellectual property filings, and publications

· Develop and control research budgets

· Prepare and review presentations for external and internal executive audiences (scientific meeting presentations, BOD, investors, etc.)

Qualifications and Skills:

· PhD or equivalent, and a minimum of 15+ years industry experience, including in the small Biotech company setting

· Therapeutic area expert having driven therapeutic programs into clinical testing in autoimmunity and/or immuno-oncology is required. Expertise in overlapping areas of Fibrosis, Metabolism, and other indications including IND-enabling research would be of interest

· Experience with biologics programs including antibody and bispecific/multispecific antibody development is required

· A strong record of scientific achievement, including successful translation of discovery therapeutic programs to IND-enablement, patent filing, clinical development, and scientific publication

· Goal oriented, organized, capable of prioritizing across multiple projects, and able to execute to timelines that meet company goals

· Thrive in a cross functional team environment and committed to positively contributing to Tentarix’s company culture

· Confident, independent and decisive; a self-starter, proactive and results-oriented with high performance standards, and an understanding of the need for involvement at all levels of activity and an attitude to get things done

· Experience with intellectual property and/or regulatory filings

· Experience developing and managing high-performing teams across multiple research programs

· Committed to company ethics, values, and scientific standards

· Excellent leadership capabilities with at least 10+ years guiding and motivating successful teams, as well as building and managing productive research collaborations

· Consistent track record of personal and personnel development

The compensation range for this role is highly competitive, including equity. Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill-set, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The compensation range is $285,000 - $320,000 + benefits + bonus target + equity.
